I'm looking to find out if there are spellings that change as you go back generations. I've found where Jan Jagaczewski married Wictoria Szamier, but as I go further back, eventually the name changes. In the 1860's, it appears as Jagaczewski or Jagaciewski. In the early 1800's, it appears to be Jagaciak. Now I'm running into Agaciewski and Jagniak that might be the same. I've gotten back to Walentigo Jagaciak in the late 1700's on this site and his 4 children, Rozalia, Jakub, Wojciech, and Sylwester. All of the records come from Mazowieckie, but I did find a small group of Jagocki's and Jaga from the Slaskie area. Is this the origin of Jagaczewski? Any help appreciated.

It depends on writing person. There were many of them for sure, and every was writing the name in another way.
But if you want to be sure it's the same family, you have collect all certifficates and other documents showing every relationship.
I haven't met that name in my searchings and Mazowieckie or Śląsk aren't the areas i have my family, so i could not answer your question if the ppl from Sląsk are related to ppl from Mazowieckie.
Best wishes,
Kamil
