Village of Bojanowo

Post autor: jstarkey »

Hello, after doing some research on my relatives, I found a common link in a village called Bojanowo. Both ship records I found say they are from "Bojanow" or "Bojanowo". On one relatives marriage, it says they both resided in Bojanowo, and she was born there. On a different site, someone told me that the names of the towns have changed. The Bojanowo I am referring to would have been very close to Gradzanowo in Mazowieckie. Elzbieta on polishorigns.com said that Bojanowo was part of gmina Ratowo according to older books, 8 km from Gradzanowo. I was wondering if anyone had any information on that area.
Thanks
John

Hello John!
1. Bojanow & Bojanowo - this is the same village.
2. Bojanowo is in the parish Gradzanowo.
3. Bojanowo (now) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Radzanów.
4. But after 1954 Gmina Radzanów was called Gmina Ratowo.
5. In the 19th century emigrants were often illiterate and traveled to the USA illegally (without documents), hence a lot of mistakes in the books of ships.

Are you sure that your relatives are from this (https://maps.google.pl/maps?q=Bojanowo& ... lskie&z=15) Bojanowo?
Because there are also some other villages called Bojanowo in Poland.
Szukam informacji o rodzinach:
Sułek (powiat bocheński: Nowy Wiśnicz - Łomna), Bojanek (powiat zawierciański: Podlesice, Kroczyce; powiat myszkowski: Żarki, Myszków), Pawluk (Ukraina, powiat bóbrecki: Stare Sioło; i Lwów)

I'm pretty sure it's the right one. Ship records, along with the name Bojanowo being mentioned as the wife's place of birth and residence in a marriage led me to it. They used Gradzanowo as a place for their wedding in 1899. I've been told they are within 8 Km of each other. The other Bojanowo is close to 200 miles away and I don't believe it's even in Mazowieckie. I went on Google maps, and searched Gradzanowo and Ratowo. They are within 10-15 km's. Once I zoomed in, it did show a place called Bojanowo, but calls it an unnamed road. It's too small to show up when typed in for some reason. But I am pretty sure that's it. Thanks
John
