Mam kilka pytań odnośnie portalu Castle Garden - http://www.castlegarden.org/
Czy ktoś już z niego korzystał? Jakie informacje zawiera?
Search=Szukaj (lub Search Now=Szukaj teraz)
FIELDS=Obszary:
SHIP = statek
PORT OF ORIGIN = PORT pochodzenia
FIRST NAME = Imię
LAST NAME = Nazwisko
OCCUPATION = zawodu
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN = KRAJ pochodzenia
PROVINCE OF ORIGIN = Prowincją pochodzenia
TOWN OF ORIGIN = (Wies | miasto) pochodzenia
DATE = DATA
Wystarczy wypełnić w jednym polu (lub tak dużo jak wiesz).
Można po prostu wpisać kilka pierwszych liter nazwy i pasuje do nazwy literę tych kilku pierwszych liter.
OK?
Jestem Amerykaninym, i nie pisać polski; Używam Google Translate. Prosze, moje biedne piśmie.
Karol,
Oh, in that case I can tell you that it is possible to get a copy of the ship manifest from the U.S. National Archives. It is just not available at Castle Garden web site. These U.S. regional National
Archives and the one in Washington D.C. are similar to the Polish Civil Archives. A Record Group is the same as a FOND.
The other way is if you have access to Ancestry.com. They have the images from Ellis Island and most all of the other ports of entry, including Catsle Garden. I have verified that this was true. So you can lookup it up in Ancestry.com.
Otherwise the process for getting a copy of the ship manifest is... [from FAQ of Castle Garden]:
How can I get a copy of an original ship manifest?
The National Archives has custody of the passenger arrival lists into the Port of New York. These are part of the Records of the Immigration and Naturalization Service [INS] (Record Group 85).
Original nineteenth century passenger arrival lists for the Port of New York are part of the holdings at NARA's Northeast Region, New York Regional facility. These records can be searched in the Regional Reference Room via a database listing the ships, dates and ports of departure, and arrival dates in New York. For researchers wishing to view the nineteenth century passenger lists, the primary tool for researching remains microfilm publication, M-237, Passenger Lists of Vessels Arriving at New York, New York, 1820-1897, which is available in the reference room.
Passenger Arrival Lists are only one source of genealogical information. The National Archive's knowledgeable staff can also assist with a multitude of other records related to genealogy.
