Wensierski, Zynda and Pejk (Pik) families from Berent

Post autor: mcduff3812 »

My Great Grandfather immigrated to the U.S. from Berent. His name was Joseph Wensierski. I found some info online that looks like his father may have been Jacob Wensierski and his Mother Marianna Zynda.

Just wondering if anyone else is researching this name or the Zynda name. A Teophil Zynda lived for a while at the same address as my great grandfather when he lived in Buffalo, NY.

My great grandmother Johanna also immigrated from Berent, her maiden name was Pik or possibly Pejk other spelling could be Pech.

Berent =Koscierzyna, it's a city at Pomorze region,near Gdansk.
Your great grandmother's name was probably Pach.I think the best focus of information is office of Koscierzyna parish . If you have any question you may write a letter to parish or to the Archiwum Panstwowe in Gdansk.

Hi dear mcduff3812! :)

You must be lucky in your life, all living Poles in this present Berent/Koscierzyna could tell you the correct family names of your Ggpa Jo~zef and his family from Poland:
1. Your "Wensierski" seems is: We~sierski (Węsierski), as in this Koscierzyna are still living abt 20 We~sierski's.
2. Your "Zynda" seems is: Z~ynda (Żynda), as in this Koscierzyna are still living abt 20 Z~ynda's.
3. Your "Pik/Pejk" seems is: Pek or Peek, as in this Koscierzyna are still living:
Krystyna Pek, Teresa and Ryszard Pek, and Hanna Peek and Zofia Peek.
All of them you can find with Polish ph directory www.ksiazka-telefoniczna.com
This Koscierzyna with Polish Wikipedia, for your Family Immigration History Book:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ko%C5%9Bcierzyna

Hope this helps a bit in your wonderful search, and family memory journey to UE Poland,
Good luck!

Thank you both for your information. I was very lucky to have recently found a document that had his birth place listed on it and also my great grandmothers. I will try the church and the links you have given me. Maybe one day I will get to poland to meet some of my family there!

Hi mcduff,

I came across your post here and it immediately made me to remember ancestry trip I had two years ago with my friend Louis to Berent/Koscierzyna area. One of the Louis ancestors he was looking for was Żynda family from villages north from Kościerzyna - Kobyla, Pogodki, Kosmin, Zblewo and Kiszewa. You can find the whole family journey story described by Louis in 2 parts here: Sitting Down In My GGGrandfather's House http://polishorigins.com/document/welnas_story .

I also wrote to Louis about your post here and he replied me that he thinks you may have a connection :!: He was trying to contact you but because he doesn't speak Polish he wasn't able to figure out how to do this through this forum.

If you were interested I could help you in getting in touch with each other.

Witajcie.
Czy może ktoś to przetłumaczyć i odesłać Pana do Pomorskiego Towarzystwa Genealogicznego www.ptg.gda.pl.
W indeksach ślubów parafii Kościerzyna znajduje się;
Jacob Wensierski ślub w 1850 r. z Marianną Żynda.
z tego związku urodziły się dzieci
1851-Clara Marianna
1860-Joseph Johann

Jednocześnie w indeksach urodzeń znajduje się kilka osób o imieniu Marianna i nazwisku Żynda. Bez zajrzenia w księgi nie ustalimy o którą Marianne chodzi.
Pozdrawiam Krzysiek

I am going to look at your friend's website. Please tell him that I do not speak polish either. I have used a google translation program to read the polish messages. He can post a message to me through this site and we can figure out if we are connected.

Thank you—

I have updated information regarding my great grandmother's maiden name and her parents. Johanna/Joanna's maiden name was spelled Peek or Pek. I am looking for decendents of Stanislaus Peek/Pek/Peck and Marianna (maiden name Thrun or Trun) Peek/Pek/Peck.

Besides Johanna (who might be Anna Rosalie), there was a daughter, Marianna Anna, Rosalia and a son Martin. If anyone is a descendent of them, I would like to hear from them.
