name combined from parents name possible?

Dzień dobry!
My name's franck, i'm searching for my ancestor and i think i found a good candidate (date, localization, year, all seems good). But the name isn't. The name i expected is "Wiatrowski" but on his birth act, his name is "Wiatr" ans his parent are "Wiatr" and "Nowakowska". If i combine the two names, ok it's seems good, but is it really a possibility? is it possible to have a name combined like that? thank you for your answer.

Hi. That's definitely possible. Me myself I have one person called once Kozioł and second Kozłowski. So, yes. Wiatr could be Wiatrowski.

Hi Franck,

back in the days when family names were in flux, the priest, or whoever wrote the act, may have referred to the same person using different variants of the name in documents throughout the person's life. You shouldn't think of it as a combination of parents' names. Wiatr / Wiatrowski, Bąk / Bąkowski (an example from my family) - variants, that's what they are.
