Annastiasia M. Mayeski -NEKROLOG
Annastiasia M. Mayeski, 84, a resident of Jefferson Township, PA, since the 1950s, died Monday morning, October 30, 2006, in Mercy Hospital. She was 84.
Born in Dickson City, PA, daughter of the late Martin and Helen Okupniarek, she attended Archbald High School and worked as a seamstress in various dress factories in her early years. She the past charter president of the former Jefferson Township Lioness Club and, along with her husband, who was the district governor of the Lions Club International, would travel to many Lion functions throughout the United States. She also enjoyed cooking and being with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Eulalia’s Church, Elmhurst.
In 1944, she married Conrad Z. Mayeski. Mr. Mayeski survives at home. Also surviving are four sons, Martin and his wife, Berenice, Beacon; Conrad and his wife, Patty, Greenfield, MA; Donald, Norfolk, VA; and Michael, Cortez, PA; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a half-brother, Ignatius Okupniarek.
The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. from the Brian A. Strauch Funeral Home, Route 690 and First Street, Spring Brook Township, PA, with Mass at 10:30 in St. Eulalia’s Church, Elmhurst, with Rev. John Polednak officiating, Interment in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA.
