There are two dates referenced: marca 21 and 2 kwietnia. What occured on each date? Which date is the birth date? It also mentions "a male child was born yesterday at 5 a.m."...what date was "yesterday"?

Also, doesn't Jablon = apple tree? I noticed many villages in the area begin Jablon-. Jablon-Koscielna, Jablon-Dobki, ect. Why? What is the meaning?

I'm not sure what you meant by "European", but the earlier date refers to the Julian (Russian) calendar, while the later date is the Gregorian calendar currently in use.
