Dear members,
I am searching for the Urbanowicz family. They are my maternal side, my grandmother Marie Urbanowicz (8 years old born 1895) came to America in 1906 with her sister Leonora (20 years old born 1886). I only found out 2 years ago that a sister named Weronika (born in 1884) came to America in either 1902 or 1905. I have no birth documents or other type of documents from their native country. On all of their American documents they list their father as Ignacy Urbanowicz but on American documents for their mother they have all different spellings of her last name, first name is Kazmiera/Catherine, Last Name could be Szuzinska, Strzydzynska, Jenzyhenska and Shedenski. The sister Weronika was married to a man named Josef Lukoszewic, I am not sure if she married him in America or was married to him after she arrived, I can't find either of the ship manifests which list them or a marriage license her in America. My mothers mother died when she was 16 years old and remembers her mother saying she was from Vilna. Her mother Marie also called Mary and her sister Leonora/Lena were held at Ellis Island for 2 weeks until their sister Weronika assured the lawyers at Ellis Island she would take them in with her. And that there were 3 other siblings back home 2 of them married-this I read in the file that was holding them on Ellis Island-but it does not have their names or the parents names or the location of where they live. They list Russia Lithuainia on the ship manifest where they were coming from. I have searched Jewish Gen web, Latvi and other sites for Lithuainia and Poland since about 1992 but no luck at all. I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. I apologize I do not speak Polish just English Thank you for reading. Mary
