In my U.S. family records the family name Haraczy is occasionally written as Haraczek. Is that a valid variation?

In Poland we have surname Haracz;

Haraczek means - young Haracz = son of Haracz.
Surname Haraczek was very rare and now disappeared in Poland.
Haraczy, probably was in former Eastern part of Poland, now Ukraine.
Surname Haraczowicz [ also means son of Haracz], was first time noted in 1480 y. in Poland.
In OldPolish, haracz=danina, it was kind of tax.
Cordially,

Thank you so much for this information. It's very informative! My family did come from eastern Poland. A place listed as Leszczany in some of their documents.
Thank you again.
