Hello everyone!!

Since my last post on my polish passport journey, I have located a copy of my grandfathers birth certificate.
But I still do not have anything that states he was a polish citizen.
What documents do I need exactly for get my polish passport?

Also - I know that he did have a passport - Anyone know where I can find a passport that was issued in ROHATYN

I know the passport number also…. If that helps.

Who would I contact??

Od mojego ostatniego wpisu o mojej drodze do polskiego paszportu, znalazłem kopię aktu urodzenia mojego dziadka.
Ale nadal nie mam niczego, co potwierdzałoby, że był obywatelem polskim.
Jakich dokumentów dokładnie potrzebuję, aby uzyskać polski paszport?

Wiem też, że miał paszport – czy ktoś wie, gdzie mogę znaleźć paszport wydany w Rohatynie?

Znam też numer paszportu… Jeśli to pomoże.

To NIE jest powtarzający się wątek. Wcześniej szukałem jego aktu urodzenia. TERAZ szukam kopii jego paszportu, dokumentów podatkowych lub dokumentów szkolnych.

I don't think it's possible to find in Polish (or Ukrainian) archives a "copy of the passport" of an individual who emigrated to Canada 1928. It's even very unlikely to find such a documents for individuals who had returned to Poland and submitted such a passport to obtain a new ID after the war. There may be a slim chance to find such a passport attached to form requesting new ID documents, but not for someone who didn't return.

You can try to find a form that your ancestor had filled to obtain said passport (Wniosek o wydanie paszportu) if such an archive would be preserved in the responsible District Office (Starostwo Powiatowe) for that locality, but I am not sure whether the copy of such form would be sufficient to prove the citizenship in your process and I don't think many of such archives survived and kept the specific fund with passport request forms.

Did you check your ancestor's documents in Canada? In many countries people had to submit document when filing for new citizenship. I am not familiar with the process in Canada, but you may find more information in Canadian archives easier than in Poland or Ukraine for this specific case.

If you already have a paper trial of birth records and some other documents, maybe it's a good idea to consult an immigration lawyer and ask what else would be needed?

I hope someone with more knowledge can give share some advice here.

In most cases you will never find the passport.
The passport is usually given to a person and the person owns the passport.
So it should be in your ancestors ancestor's belongings,
There are some other scenarios, but it works like this in most cases for an emigrant.

You can search for a register of passports issued or for a passport questionaire. This two put together could be the best result. But the chances are not very big in my opinion.
Passports were issued by starostwo or powiat or voivodship - documents were issued locally. Rohatyń belonged tp the Voivodship Stanisławów.
You need to search in Ukraine NOT, there are small chances to find something in Poland. Try also FamilySearch.

A passport could also be issued to a person who was NOT a Polish citizen. Many people before WW2 had not a clear status in terms of citizenship.
