Hello, my genealogical research on my paternal grandmother who arrived in France and who died in France in 1996, she always kept Polish nationality except that I cannot find the city of birth noted on all the documents concerning her, whether it is her death certificate or her residence permit, which is KABOURTZ where she was born on 05/05/1916, is it a bad spelling or was it noted phonetically? I tried using the Polish spelling but it was not conclusive or I did not succeed, which is more likely. Her parents were called Frantz NOTZON and Maria F(J)alskoska. Thank you for your help.

I couldn't quickly find your grandmother's birth certificate. Based on the occurrence of the surname and the German-sounding suffix "-tz", I'm guessing the places you're looking for might be: Kochłowice, today part of Ruda Śląska (German: Kochlowitz), or Katowice (German: Kattowitz), or Kobiór (German: Kobier). If I were you, I'd search in the Ruda Śląska area.

Like Kamil noticed, it's definitely German style of writing, so you should focus your research on lands under German control at this time. The surname NOTZON in proper Polish spelling would be probably NOCOŃ or NOCUŃ. Frantz in Polish - Franciszek. F(j)alskoska - two things: "j" in this position would be probably "i" and "-oska" more likely "-owska" (but in surnames almost everything is possible). So surnames like Falkowska or Fiołkowska are possible.

Sądzę, że mogą to być Katowice - w piśmie odręcznym, "Katowitz" (przez jedno "t") może wyglądać jak "Kabourtz", np.:

These are the only documents I have: she had six children with the same man, but they never married, so I don't have a marriage certificate that could have provided me with valuable information about her parents and herself.
