I'm am trying to help my wife research her father's line, which comes from Łódź. They were ethnic Germans involved in the textile industry, and were a reasonably prominent family. (For example, this was the family house.) Does anyone have any ideas of where I should start looking?

Regards,
Chris

Chris, that is very wide and open question you have posed over here. What kind of information you were able to gather so far? Any death record, marriage from US? Ellisisland passenger list record? What years range/century we are talking about? without details you gave so far, I guess nobody will be able to point you in proper direction.

Regards,
Agnieszka

What little I've got so far: My father in law is Julius Lange (1934-). His parents were Karl Lange (1893-1968) and Alice Edith Feier (1907-1987). Karl's parent's were Julius Adolph Lange and Mathilda Klukow, although I've got no dates for either of them. Karl & Alice immigrated to the US in the 1950's. That's about it, I'm afraid.

Chris,

I propose to place your request on the forum TGCP in Łódź, too.

Someone has The Address Book Łódź 1930-1939.

Chris,

Most of the vital records for Lodz is located in National Archive in Lodz. If you know their religion, we can narrow down to the place of worship and then you can send request to the Archive to search for the record.
