T: MARCHWICKI, LASINSKI (LACINSKI), KUBERSKI FAMILY. HELP

Dear Members,

For years I´ve been trying to trace my ggrandmother´s roots from Poland with no success.

Her name was Maria MARCHWICKA and her family emigrated to Kurytyba, Brazil in 1890-91, when she was about 6 years old. I never found any records about the arrival of her family at the Brazilian Archives and lists of immigrants. In all her documents in Brazil, she declared she was Polish. I definately no nothing about her. A curious thing is that, in some documents she signed as Maria MARCHWICKA and in others as Maria MARCHFICKA.

Recently, I found out that she had a cousin whose name was Jozefa Lasinska (Lacinska, Lachinska). Born on Feb 28 1889. Parents: Tomasz Lasinski (Lacinski, Lachinski) and Rosalia Kuberska. I found the record of their arrival in Brazil - 1891. I also found the Death Certificate of Tomasz Lasinski (Lacinski, Lachinski), who died in Kurytyba in 1900 at the age of 68. In this certificate it´s written he´s Prussian. Even if Tomasz was listed as Prussian, all his children as Jozefa declared they were Polish.

I´ve contacted the descendants of Jozefa Lasinska (Lacinska, Lachinska), and they confirmed she was the first cousin of my ggranmother Maria MARCHWICKA, but they can´t give me more details. The only thing one said is that, once they saw a paper, on which was written that Jozefa was from "POVIAST", Poland. But this name sounds a bit strange to me.

Well, now I´ve been thinking that if they were cousins, probably they emigrated to Brazil from the same city or village in Poland. Is it right?

Is there any way I can find the location of my ggrandmother´s hometown based on the information and surnames I mentioned above?

I´ll be grateful for any advices and piece of information you can give me.

Dziekuje wszystkim za pomoc.

Edek

Hello Edek,
In parish Błaszki (łódzkie) You can find birth record of Marianna Marchwicka vel Marchficka in 1883.
http://www.geneteka.genealodzy.pl/index ... 05ld&op=gt
I think that Marianna was a daugter of Jan Marchwicki and Angela Mazurkiewiicz.

I also found marriage record: Tomasz Łaciński i Marianna Antczak in 1882.
http://www.geneteka.genealodzy.pl/index ... 05ld&op=gt
I suppose that second wife of Tomasz Lacinski could be Rozalia Kuberska? Their daughter Józefa was born in 1889.
You should check it.
Regards,
Dominik

Hi, Dominik!

Thank you for your reply.
I forgot to mention that in my ggrandmother Maria MARCHWICKA´s wedding papers, her parents appear as Antoni and Antonia MARCHWICKI and in her Death Certificate as Szymon and Antonia MARCHWICKI. So, I´m not sure about their names. I do believe her mother´s real name is Antonia, because I found her Death Certificate, and the only information was: +11-08-1936, Antonia MARCHICKA, age 95, widow, from Poland. Anyway, I´ll try to check the Blaszki Records you´ve suggested me.

About Tomasz Lasinski (Lacinski) I think his only wife was Rozalia Kuberska, because they had 4 children, whose births were before 1882.

Jeszcze raz dziekuje! Pozdrowienie z Brazylii,

Edek

Hi, again!

I guess this word POVIAST was mispelled. Is there any variation to the name POVIAST, as a village or city name in Poland? I mean, a village or city name which sounds like POVIAST but written in a different way in Polish?

Thank you again!
