"GREENBERG\Grinberg\Grynberg in Bialystok. Help, Please!"

Hello!
I'm searching for my roots in Bialystok. Im interested in finding any information about Greenbergs (or another spelling variants) who lived in Bialystok till 1900s.
The main problem is that I do not know Polish and I cant understand, where i can find any online archive of Bialystok if there are any.
Coming to Bialystok is impossible for me at least now because i live 2500 kilometers away. Can anybody tell me, what can I find on this website for my request?
My e-mail is imacocacola@ymail.com
Thank you!

Thank you, Elzbieta and Mariusz, for the information and links shared!
Too bad there are no Grinbergs born in 1889. But Im gonna continue my searches.
If occasionally you will notice some Grinbergs on the Internet, please, let me know. For me all infomation is important!
Kind regards,
Sophia

Anyway, I will try to send them an e-mail, maybe they can help me somehow! :)

While sending an e-mail to Archive in Bialystok, write your name and family name and address. If you are not anonymous, Archive employers should send you an official response. I do not know any Doctors List in Poland. The most appropriate way in my opinion is to get in touch with Bialystokj Archive.

Hi Sophia,
For all Greenberg's having roots from Poland we have also following information:
FAMILY NAME
From Poland seems the correct family name is Grynberg or Grinberg given by you, you can see some of them in our PTG genealogical index GENETEKA, most records are from the 19th century, our friend Elzbieta gave you first links :
Grynberg: http://www.geneszukacz.genealodzy.pl/in ... ang=&op=se
= 8 births, 6 deaths, and 5 marriages
Grinberg: http://www.geneszukacz.genealodzy.pl/in ... ang=&op=se
= 24 births, 1 death, and 7 marriages
And noone from Bialystok/area. But you must note there are 3 places in Poland with Bialystok in name:
Bialystok - the town located in NE Poland
Konopki-Bialystok - in same area
Bialystok - the village located in SE Poland
FAMILY PLACE
Sophia, your ancestors from Poland, like many other immigrants, could give not the exact POB - place of birth, but nearly located town - do you have any document giving Bialystok as the exact place of birth? Do you find them with for eg Ellis Island database? - this would give the exact POB and many other very interesting family info:
http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/eidb/ellisgold.html?
If you want our help please give the full names of your GGGparents, and approximate year of immigration.
Did you check other immigration ports with Ancestry? (Baltimore, Philadelphia, ...)
Did you try to obtain their naturalization papers? This would give (the petition is the best) the exact family name, and the exact POB in Poland/Russia/..., you can find the naturalization papers at the local court after immigration and petition.

Try to tell us more, so, we will try to help you in your further search.
Hope this helps a bit, good luck!
Tadeusz

Sophia,

This year, Archiwum Panstwowe in Bialystok issued the book named "Inwentarz Zespołu Akt Starszy Notariusz Sądu Okręgowego w Grodnie [1581-1882] 1883-1915 [1920-1930]" prepared by Jerzy Szumski. There was a CD with site index and personal index attached to it. I possess it and found there many Griberg and Grynberg persons living in Bialystok at the end of XIXth century. This book is good help source if you would like to look into the documents of inwentarz mentioned, which are govered in Bialystok archive. If you give me your e-mail address, I can send you a personal index, which was attached to the book. It is in pdf file, and lists name and surname of the person, name of the father, location, and document signature, where this name exists.

Indeks osobowy – 32871 haseł, dołączony do „Inwentarza Zespołu Akt Starszego Notariusza Sadu Okręgowego” autorstwa Jerzego Szumskiego.
Przyda się wszystkim, którzy interesują się Białymstokiem i okolicą.

The same index I wanted to send by e-mail :). I haven't noticed it has been published in the internet.
