Zarebczan and Las Family from Gronkow

Post autor: myonick »

I am looking for more information regarding the Zarebczan or Las Families from Gronkow, Malopolska, Poland.

My grandmother; Bronislawa Las born 21 April 1895 in Gronkow
Her parents: Wojciech Las and Regina Zarebczan

Bronislawa's siblings that also immigrated: Katarzyna, Stanislaw, and Karolina.
All siblings found on passenger lists

I have written (many times) to the church in Gronkow, but with no response.
I will appreicate any help.

Hi,

Maybe you should contact the The Archdiocesan Archive in Cracow: http://www.diecezja.pl/kuria/archiwum.html

I'm not really interested in the Malopolska region, but I've verified where Gronkow is and I found out that until 1920 this village belonged to the parish in Ostrowsko. So if you're looking for the roots of your grandmother, you should, in my opinion, ask for the informations from the register book of Ostrowsko precisely.

If you know anyone speaking polish, ask him to help you in writing the email to the Cracow archive - maybe the lack of response from Gronkow was due to a language barrier.

Good luck!

Thank you for your response to my posting.
I have written in Polish to the church.
I was informed that the Archdiocesan Archives in Krakow will not do a search. To obtain the records you have to go in person to have the search done. If I have received the wrong information please let me know.
Mary
