After many months of search I believe I may have finally located several of my ancestors' birth records on this wonderful website. I would like to confirm that these are my ancestors but I do not speak or read Polish. Is someone able to provide me with a complete translation of any of the records I found?

Johanna Sas was my grandmother and I know she had a brother Josef and a sister Antonina and they all came to the US in the early 1900's. The birth dates here are the same years in records that I have for Johanna, Antonina and Josef. Their father's name was either Alexander (or Antoni) Sas or Sass; their mother was Katarzyna but I have no last name for her.

I'm not sure how to direct you to the actual documents I found here but below is what I found in "Mazowieckie" records who might possibly be my family:

I've checked your records. I don't think it's in Polish. In that time there was no "official" Poland, we were parts of Russia, Austria and Prussia.
You need to wait for someone who has experience in reading such records.
Maybe someone can read this and translate to Polish? Than I could translate it to English. I'll ask in Polish

Oh My Goodness! I am eternally grateful. Yes, I fully believe these are the records for my grandmother, her parents, siblings and other relatives. I am so excited! The birth dates I have for Joanna, Antonina and Josef are very close. There is only a few days of difference in each one of the records so this must be my relatives.

I still am a little confused about the location of these towns, villages and Parishes.
Can anyone provide me with their locations on a map of Poland? I am hoping to plan a trip to Poland and would very much like to know where I can visit the birthplaces and homes of my ancestors.

Now I must continue my search for more information on what happened to the rest of the family who stayed in Poland, their ancestors, marriages, children, and deaths.

nasunęła mi się taka myśl, czy w metryce z Lubiela, gdzie Sas jest już ekonomem, nie byłby właściwszy termin steward (man who manages another`s property or estate) zamiast economist? Jan może nie orientować się w stosunkach pracy na wsi w XIX w.

I jeszcze do karbowego (grooved) , dodałabym wyjaśnienie -overseer of farm labourers. Polska nazwa pewnie pochodzi od karbowania pleców chłopom, ale nie jestem pewna tej po angielsku

Monika, Robert and others....this is beyond my wildest expectations. I cannot believe how much information I have found on this website but it would mean nothing to me without your diligent research and translation abilities. You folks are miracle workers!

Regarding the slight discrepancies in the birth dates that I mentioned in an earlier post, I don't believe it has much to do with the different calendars, but perhaps errors that were made by the parents or others when telling them what their birth dates actually were. For instance:

ANTONINA SAS: My records list her birth date as 13 December 1881. Your translation shows her dates as 18 December 1881 (6 December in the Julian Calendar). It could be that Antonina herself or someone else in her family, misread the 18 as a 13. She passed away here in 1947. Nevertheless, I am confident this is my Grand Aunt. Her daughter, Regina, now in her 80's, as well as Regina's daughter are still alive and living here in the states. They will be thrilled to have this information as well.

JOANNA SAS: My grandmother's birth date on my records list her birth date as 25 June 1890 , which is exactly the same in the records you provided!

JOSEF SAS: My records list his birth date as 20 March 1888, and your translation shows his birth date as 31 March 1888. Again I have no doubt that this is my Uncle. He passed away in 1974.

STANISLAW SAS: I have no specific information on him other than an approximate year of birth as 1880. This is only based on the Ship Manifest when he came to the US in 1906 and I cannot verify any other records for him here in the States. As you know, the ship manifest information is not always accurate and I rely on other records for verification. But with this new information I believe I will be able to find more.

I never knew my grandmother had several other siblings. I've hit the jackpot! Unfortunately I never knew my dear grandmother as she died in 1941 several years before I was born.

I'm also thankful for the map showing the locations of the cities, towns and villages where they all came from. It is wonderful to know and heartwarming that they all stayed in the same general vicinity. With the exception of course of the ones who came to the States.

I have another mystery to solve regarding Alexander Sas, my great grandfather:

The 1906 Ship Manifest where Joanna and Stanislaw came to the US, also lists that Alexander, their father, came with them. He indicated his age as 48 (approximate birth date 1857) and that he was married. They said they were coming to the US to join their son and brother, Josef (who came in 1904). I can find absolutely NO other information on Alexander here in the States. Josef, Antonina and Joanna all settled in the Detroit, Michigan area. I am thinking that perhaps Alexander came here with his son and daughter on that ship but then returned to Poland. It is also very interesting to see that his wife Katharyzna passed away in 1907 in Poland just several months after he came to the States. I am continuing my search in Poland to see if I can locate a death record for him there. I will also be looking for grave sites and cemeteries in Poland.
