Polscy przodkowie

Post autor: Boumbah »

Bonjour, I'm french.
I am looking for information about my great grandmother Agnieszka Wąsik, born April 14, 1895, in the city of Teresa and also my great-grandfather Tomasz Wielanek who was born in October 1896 in Mełpin.
My two great-grandparents died in France, Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, near Paris.
Can you help me start this Polish genealogy?
Dziękujemy!

Dear Jean-Marc,
The places you mentioned are located most probably in Wielkopolska (Greater Poland)
The village Teresa in RC Parish Nowe Miasto nad Wartą (in some documents written Nowemiasto) and the same Civil Register office.
There also is another Teresa in different part of Poland in Parish Lubiszewo but the probability that it fits is lower.
The Mełpin is located in RC Parish Mórka but the Office I guess was in Śrem or Dolsk (now its in Dolsk).

You can try both ways: Civil records or Church records
The Civil records are in State Archives in Poznań
and the RC Church records in the Archidiecesian Archive in Poznań
The biggest databases of indexes for Greater Poland are here
births
http://www.basia.famula.pl/
marriages
http://poznan-project.psnc.pl/
same are published in our forum here
http://www.geneteka.genealodzy.pl/index ... eng&w=15wp

Unfortunatelly the years of your interest are not avaliable online at the moment and I guess are not indexed.
The Civil records will be published some day here
www.szukajwarchiwach.pl
eg
http://szukajwarchiwach.pl/53/1849/0/st ... #tabZespol
http://szukajwarchiwach.pl/53/1912/0/1#tabZespol

If you know some sibilings you can try another years for birth.
There a genealogical forum covering Wielkopolska so you can also try here
http://www.wtg-gniazdo.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=10

You can also ask the State Archive in Poznań per mail for scans of the record as you know the dates and places. The cost of the scan is be rather small, the wiretransfer can cost you more.
I'm not the very expert for Wielkopolska so wait for some more suggestions.

Jean-Marc,

Just to add to Piotr's extensive and helpful tips. If you are not lucky and no one is able to help you out, maybe a solution for you could be to try Familysearch.org. On this website you can order microfilms of church books relevant to your parishes. (see below mentioned links). After you order those microfilms, you can review them at chosen by you Family History Center. For example if you are from Paris area, you can visit the Family History Center at the following addresses:

Evry France Family History Center Evry 20, Boulevard Louise Michel
Melun France Family History Center Melum 10 rue Dammarie
Paris France Lilas Family History Center Paris 64, Rue De Romainville
Torcy France Family History Center Torcy 9, Avenue Lingenfeld
Versailles France Family History Center Versailles 5, Rond-Point de l'Alliance

Here below are links to parishes identified by Piotr.

Nowe Miasto

Morka

On another note, do you have death or marriage records of your great-grandparents?

Bonne chance :)
Pozdrawiam Agnieszka

Hello Jean-Marc,
I found Laurent Wielanek (b. 1858), who had wife Rosalie (b.1858) but her surname was Tomaszewska, not Cochowski.
They married in parish Dalewo (registy office in Dolsk) in 1884. He was son of Adalbert (Wojciech) Wielanek and Marie Wojtczak.
Rosalie was an illegitimate child. She was daughter of Marie.

The most important information - Rosalie was born in Melpin !
Pozdrawiam,
Marcin Marynicz

Bonjour Marcin Marynicz, I got the death certificate of my great-grandfather.
In french :
Thomas Wielanek, né a Melpin, Pologne, le vingt-deux décembre mil-huit-cent-quatre-vingt-seize, fils de Laurent Wielanek et de Rosalie Cochowski.

I would have asked to the town council of Melpin or Dolsk the Tomatsz's birth certificate ?!?!
