Dzień dobry,

Sadly that is the limit of my Polish even though my father was Polish, but he died in Argentina when I was 6 months old, so sadly I had no language tuition.
I have to say a huge thank you to all the people who have put together this web site. For many years I knew nothing of my Polish family and now I sudenly have a family on paper at least, all thanks to this site.
I have seen on this forum that some kind people will translate the registration documents. I have two documents I would like some help with. I believe they are in Russian.

What I am really interested to know in these documents is what my Grandparents occupations were and a street name or area in Zdunska Wola.

Another question I have is about my Aunt Irena Piotrowska. The records seem to end at 1913 and I think she was born after my father. Are there more modern records kept somewhere else?
If anybody can help me with this I will be very grateful.

Zygmunt Piotrowski was born in village Rozomyśl in 1910 (18th of April). He was son of Ignacy Piotrowski (37 years old) and Zofia nee Pietrzykowska (28 years old).

Ignacy Piotrowski and Zofia Pietrzykowska married in Zduńska Wola in 1902 (18th of January). Ignacy was 28 years old and his parents were Konstanty Piotrowski and Konstancja nee Stachurska (died in 1880). He lived in Zduńska Wola and it was the place where he was born. Zofia Pietrzykowska was 21 years old and she was daughter of Michał Pietrzykowski and Marcjanna nee Janicka. She was born in Zduńska Wola and she lived there with her father because mother died in 1897.

This is wonderful information, thank you very much, I am very grateful.

I am slowly putting together my Polish family I knew very little about.

I will write down a short history of what I know in case there is somebody out there who might recognise a connection with their family. This happened to my wife when she was researching her ancestry. It is a small world really.

My father Zygmunt Piotrowski I now know was born in the village of “Rozmyśl” 1909/1910. Next information I have of him is that in 1939 he was 3rd Radio Officer on the M.V. Batory ( a famous ship). He spent the war on this ship and in 1945 he left the ship to live in Glasgow Scotland for 4 years. He met my mother Anne Bourhill in Scotland. In 1948 he travelled to Argentina, my mother followed a year later and they were married. I was born in Buenos Aires in 1951, but sadly my father died only 6 months later of a massive heart attack.

I believe that my father had 3 sisters Aniela Anna, Sabina and Irena. It seems that my Aunt Irena Piotrowska was the only one to survive. I have 3 photographs of her as an adult, one with her mother Zofia. I have no date of birth for her or if she ever married. It’s likely she was born after 1913.

Zygmunt had a cousin Jan (Jasio) Pietrzykowski and they were very close friends. I have conflicting information about birth (1909 or 1913) and parents could be Michael Pietrzykowski and Bronislawa Klimaszenska or Josef Pietrzykowski and Wanda Frencel.

Jan studied Theology at the State University in Lwow in 1938 to become a priest. He was imprisoned in the concentration camps of Buchenwald (bei Weimar) and Plömnitz-Leau. I have been told his brother (name unknown) was killed in Buchenwald. By 1947 he was in Paris and in 1948 he was in Buenos Aires with my father and my mother. He left Argentina for the USA in 1958 and returned to Argentina in 1964 where he lived and worked until his death in 2000.

Hopefully somebody out there will recognise some common connections with their own genealogy.

I believe this is the Jan Pietrzykowski which I am researching. I have got a lot of information about him from records sent to me by “Arzobispo de Buenos Aires” (Archbishop of Buenos Aires). He was indeed in Buchenwald and was part of forced labour at the salt mines in Plömnitz-Leau.

The information you provided about his arrival date and his prisoner number are new to me.
I was able to search the web site link you provided to try and confirm the story I had been told by my mother that Jans brother had been killed at Buchenwald. I was not able to find any other Pietrzykowski. It may be one of those stories which might get confused about location or relation.
I continue my research.
A big mystery now for me is what became of my father’s sister (my Aunt) Irena Piotrowska. I suspect she was born after 1913 and therefore will have to go to other records. I now feel much better about visiting Poland and Zdunska Wola, now that I have more of a picture about my Fathers background.

I believe this may be the marriage record for my Grandmother’s sister, Agnieszka Łos (born in 1887 in Zabno). I know Agnieszka married a man with the surname Kula, but I am not sure of his first name (possibly Josef or Stanislaus).

Agnieszka’s father was Jakub Łos and her mother was Anna Szafraniec. The Łos family was from Zabno, Krasnystaw, Turobin, Lubelskie, Poland.

According to a recently discovered family letter from 1947, written by Agnieszka's son Stanislaus Kula, Agnieszka and her husband (Kula), along with one of their daughters, Anna Kula, were all killed on July 13, 1943 in the Volyn Massacre. I have not been able to locate any death records for them.

A full and complete translation of this record would be so very much appreciated as it may be of help to me in locating the records for the other family members.

Stanisław Kula 64 years old (probably father of the groom, but its only not stated)
Jan Bielak 56 years old
All parents were alive at the time of the wedding except the mother of the groom.
