Researching Mateusz Barsczc and MaryAnna Nowak and their children. This is a new site for me to research and I can not read Polish documents. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Joanne DeChants
My grandmother, Katherine Barszcz unknown birth date but an assuming around 1896. Teofilia was baptized in 1886 and gives her place of birth as Kuzie, Podlaskie Voivodeship. She arrived in America October 16, 1901. MaryAnna was born January 10, 1890 or possibly 1893 and she arrived September 6, 1901. Both of these girls lived in Providence, Massachusetts and then moved to New York. Paulin was born December 24, 1890 in Gawrychy, Podlaskie Voivodeship and arrived 1909 and lived with an uncle Joseph Nowak in Peabody Massachusetts.

Hi Joanne,

First of all you must be sure with the right location of your Mateusz Barszcz and Marianna Nowak's origin, together with the RC family parish with the records.
In the 19th century I do suppose (but I'm not sure with this few minutes help) your family crest was named as Kuzie Puszczanskie [noted in from the year 1783 as Kuzie, from 1884 as Kuzie-Puszczanskie, finally from 1921 as Kuzie].
The family ancestral RC parish was Nowogrod (but maybe before 1827 it was Maloplock).
In the present day Poland your Kuzie is described with Polish Wikipedia as:

Kuzie [ˈkuʑe] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Zbójna, within Łomża County, Podlaskie Voivodeship, in north-eastern Poland.[1] It lies approximately 11 kilometres (7 mi) north-west of Zbójna, 32 km (20 mi) north-west of Łomża, and 103 km (64 mi) west of the regional capital Białystok.

First search with our PTG KZM (The Index of the Parishes/Records of Poland) is giving the base info about your family ancestral parish Nowogrod:

The next search with our PTG Geneteka database confirms the family name Barszcz from the parish Nowogrod records [Marriages 1891-1911]:

Kuzie i Gawrychy to była chyba wtedy parafia Zbójna.

I think that before parish Zbójna was parish Nowogród.
