Dear Nika,

I have veried previously earlier that Petronela Michalkiewicz who was married in 1862 is the daughter of Marcin Michalkiewicz and Marianna (Macjanna) Subotowicz my question is about if she was born legitimate or out of wedlock. I have been looking through the online microfilms and I know her parents were married in Novemeber of 1831 when the parents were both 21 (verified by their birth records) the first born child I have found a baptism record for is Urzula who was born 8 August 1834.

I also note on the communion lists Petronela is listed as the eldest daughter so if she was legitimate she would have been born sometime before 1834 and after November 1831. I have checked the Suderwa births for the years in between and found no mention of her birth of baptism. Before I check the earlier years I figured I'd verify her being legitimate. If she was maybe she was baptized elsewhere, as there is no doubt of her existing.

Here is the marriage again to look at.

Dear Hugh,

The record states that Petronela was the daughter of married parents.
She was aged 24 in 1862, so was born probably about 1838.
I would consider the communion lists less precise about age of parishioners than the marriage register, although as they were illiterate, anything could go.
