Niedawno natknąłem się na kobiecej przodka, który żył w Szaty parafii na Litwie już w 1730 roku i jak dotąd nie można znaleźć to, co jest jej imię znaczy czy o to nikogo innego materii wymienione z tym nazwiskiem.

Jej nazwisko na płycie jest Elżbieta Korcywianka, a jak już mówiłem znalazłem żadnego zapisu nazwy Korcywianka online lub książek polskich nazw. Czy to białoruska nazwa? Nazwa litewska? Jestem ze stratą.

Dear Genealodzy friends,

I have recently come across a female ancestor who lived in Szaty parish in Lithuania back in the 1730's and as of yet cannot find what her name meaning is or for that matter anyone else listed with this surname.

Her name on the record is Elzbieta Korcywianka, and as I have said I have found no record of the name Korcywianka online or in Polish name books. Is this a Belarussian name? Lithuanian name? I am at a loss.

In my opinion the surname given in the act is Koreywianka which means Miss Koreywo.

father- Korc or Korcywiak
mother- Korcywiakowa
daughter- Korcywianka

Thank you monika and nika, I myself am still trying to figure out if that is a "c" or an "e" in the last name, however so for the e variant is the only one turning up any names. I will see how this leads me further in my research.
