My dear Genealodzy friends,

I found this baptism record many months ago from the Kozakiszki catholic church records. My question is is this entry on 4 December 1807 does it say the child is named Franciszek Jozef or are they twins Franciszek and Jozef?? This woman Teresa Jastrzembska (my 4th great grandmother) Her 2nd husband was my ancestor and she had twin boys with him.

The entry is on the right hand page for the date 4 Xbr.

Chrystian,

thank you for the clarification, if you don't mind me asking what gave away that it was one child?

Hi Hugh,

to me it looks like the baptism of twins (although eventually twins should have separate entries) as the names are connected with an "and". Maybe someone else could comment on that so that you can be sure.

There are 2 godparents. not 4.

that makes sense. I just thought it was strange that none of the other baptisms have more then one name recorded.

Hugh,
I think that Franciszek Józef is one child.

On the left hand page there is another baptism of one child with two names: Margaritta and Hedwiga. Look at words written in fifth column - below parents' names there is written "stanu wiejskiego" or "stanu szlacheckiego". It means "peasant class" or "noble class". It was common that children born in noble class families were named with two names. Look at other pages - two names only in noble class, peasant class always one name.

Monika
