Ciao
Again sorry if I have got this in the wrong thread
I am looking for the origin of the name of the town Bańgów, Siemianowice Śląskie
From: https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ba%C5%84g%C3%B3w
"Presumably, the name of the town comes from its founder named Bańka "
My Mother's Father's surname was Baingo and she always thought the surname was from a village in Poland. Through ancestry research I have discovered there was indeed a surname change from Banka / Banke to Baingo so I wonder if this was connected to the town of Bangow

Thank you again, Krystyna for taking the time to answer my question. By any chance do you have an idea who I could email to try and find out which Banka named the town? My research on this

Presumably the name of the town comes from its founder named Bańka - these are only guesses, nothing for sure, 1596 is old times, you won't find Ksiąg Metrykalnych from Siemianowice, but you can write to the City Hall
